Every day has its own board

Every day in Bloomingo has a board of its own. Today’s board is the main screen: the place to plan the day you are in, always one key away.

Today's board: the date at the top left, the My tasks list with five tasks, a note, a sticky note and a clock in a section named Launch week, a sketch, and the sidebar with Today selected.

Wherever you are, these bring you back to today:

  • Press G then TG then T.
  • Choose Today in the header of any other day.
  • Choose Go to Today in the command menu (⌘KCtrl+K).
  • On a Mac, choose Go > Today in the menu bar.

The top row of the sidebar says Today while today is open, with a sun. When another day is open, it shows that day’s date instead. Clicking it brings back the open day after you visit a page such as Notes. Its number is the count of open tasks on that day.

The header sits at the top left of the board:

  • The date, such as “Thursday, 1 October”. A day in another year shows its year too. Dates follow your system’s language and region.
  • Previous day and Next day, the two arrows after the date. Their keys are [[ and ]].
  • Today, a button that shows on every day but today.
  • A chip on every day but today, saying how far it is: “Tomorrow”, “In 3 days”, “Yesterday” or “4 days ago”.
The header of Sunday 18 October, three days ahead: the date, the Previous day and Next day arrows, the Today button and the chip In 3 days.

At the top right of the board is Board options (⋯). On a day, the timeline button sits at the right end of the band at the top of the window. It shows the day’s hours beside the board: see the timeline.

The calendar at the bottom of the sidebar opens any day. You can also step a day at a time with the arrows or [[ and ]], or type a day such as “friday” in Search. Pins and Recent in the sidebar open days you return to.

A day you have not used yet opens with one list on the left, My tasks. It holds the tasks put on that day. The rest of the board is open space for notes, sticky notes, boards and anything else. Nothing is kept for the day until you add or change something there. My tasks explains how tasks reach a day.

While today has nothing on it but an empty My tasks list, a card in the middle of the board asks “What’s on your mind today?” Type a task and press ↵Enter. It joins the end of My tasks, and the field empties for the next one.

Press EscEsc, click the board or choose a tool to put the card away for the day. Once the day has anything on it, the card stays away.

A past day you never used says “Nothing was planned for this day” and “Past days stay here so you can look back. You can still add to them.” Past days you did use show what you left there. You can add to any past day, as on any board.

The first time you open a new day, a tray may open under today’s header, such as “3 left from yesterday”. It lists tasks still open on days gone by, and lets you choose what each one does. Nothing moves until you choose. See yesterday’s unfinished tasks.

Board options (⋯) at the top right of a day holds:

  • Open in new tab: the day in a new tab, beside the one in front.
  • Open in new window: the day in a window of its own. Today has none, as today always shows in the first window.
  • Pin to sidebar, or Unpin when the day is pinned.
  • Export as PNG and Export as PDF: a picture or a PDF of the board. See export and import.

Tabs and windows says more about the first two.

A new day starts at midnight at first. If you often work into the night, the day can end later, so those hours still count as the day you are in. Choose when in Settings > Days > Your day ends at: Midnight, or any hour from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Settings lists every choice.

Say your day ends at 2:00 AM. At 1:30 AM on Wednesday, Bloomingo still shows Tuesday as today. A task added to today goes on Tuesday.

When the day does end:

  • Today becomes the next date. A board showing today moves on to the new today by itself, in every tab showing it. If you are looking at another day, it stays open.
  • The calendar marks the new today.
  • The first time you open the new day, yesterday’s unfinished tasks wait in the tray.
  • A window of its own showing the date that has become today closes, and the first window shows today.

Words such as “Edited yesterday” and a clock’s sessions count days the same way. The day’s end never shows on the board, and a change to it applies at once, in every window.
