The day's timeline
The timeline shows the open day’s timed tasks hour by hour, on the right of the day’s board. It shows one day only, and only tasks with a time. Tasks without a time stay in their lists and never appear here.

Show or hide the timeline
Section titled “Show or hide the timeline”- Choose the timeline button at the right end of the window’s top band. Its tooltip says Show the timeline or Hide the timeline.
- Press ⌥⌘TCtrl+Alt+T.
- Choose Show the timeline or Hide the timeline in the command menu.
- Choose the close button in the timeline’s header.
The timeline is for days only. Your choice is remembered on this device. Until you choose, it shows when the window is at least 1280 pixels wide. A window of its own starts with the timeline hidden and keeps its own choice.
Opening something in the side panel takes the timeline’s place. Closing the panel brings the timeline back.
Read the hours
Section titled “Read the hours”- The hours run from the start of your day to its end, as Your day ends at in Settings has them. See Settings.
- On today, a blue line with a dot marks now, and the timeline opens there. On another day it opens at the first timed task, or else at 8 AM.
- Each block shows the task’s check, its words and, when there is room, its time (“3:00 – 3:30 PM”). It is as tall as the task’s length. A task with no length shows as 30 minutes.
- A block takes the colour of the list holding the task, when that list has one.
- A done task is struck through. A time that has gone by is never marked.
- Blocks at the same time sit side by side, up to three sharing the width. With more, each keeps a third of the width, and the hours scroll sideways: use a two-finger swipe, the scroll bar, or the mouse wheel with Shift held.
When you come back to Bloomingo after 10 minutes or more away, or your computer wakes, a timeline showing today scrolls to now. The next timed task still open gets a ring for a moment.
Draw a task on the timeline
Section titled “Draw a task on the timeline”- Press on the hours where there is no block, and drag down or up. The new block grows in 15-minute steps, with its time showing. A click without a drag draws 30 minutes.
- Let go. The New task card opens beside the block, ready for a title.
- Type the task’s title.
- Change its time, alert, repeat or list if you like.
- Choose Save, or press ↵Enter in the title.

The add button in the timeline’s header, Add a task at a time, draws 30 minutes from the next quarter hour after now on today, or from 9 AM on another day.
The card holds:
- Add a title: the task’s words.
- Time: the start, typed as “9:00 AM”. If it can’t be read, the card says “Try a time like 3:30 PM.” Beside it is the length: 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 1 hour, 1½ hours, 2 hours or 3 hours, or the drawn length, such as “1 hour 15 min”.
- Alert: starts at At the time, so a drawn task reminds you. The choices are No alert, At the time, 5 minutes before, 10 minutes before, 30 minutes before and 1 hour before.
- Repeat: Doesn’t repeat, Every day, Every weekday, Every week, Every month or Every year, each named for the day you drew on, such as “Every week on Saturday” or “Every month on the 10th”. Custom is in the side panel.
- List: My tasks first, then the day’s other task lists by name.
- More options: saves the task and opens it in the side panel, for its day, deadline, notes and a custom repeat.
- Save: saves the task at the end of the chosen list.
While the card is open, drag the block to move it, or drag its top or bottom edge to change it. EscEsc takes the card and the block away. A click anywhere else saves a task that has a title, and takes away one that doesn’t. A task saved with no title is named “Untitled task”.
Give a task a time by dragging
Section titled “Give a task a time by dragging”Drag a task from a list over the timeline. A dashed outline shows where it will land, in 15-minute steps, with the time beside it. Let go, and the task gets that time and stays in its list.
A task card works the same way. It gets the time and goes back to its place on the board.
Move or resize a block
Section titled “Move or resize a block”- Drag a block to change its time.
- Drag its bottom edge to change its length.
- Drag its top edge to change its start and keep its end.
Each moves in 15-minute steps with the time showing. Dragging near the top or bottom of the hours scrolls them.
From the keyboard, press TabTab to reach a block, then:
- ⌥↑Alt+↑ or ⌥↓Alt+↓ moves it 15 minutes earlier or later.
- ⌥⇧↓Shift+Alt+↓ makes it 15 minutes longer, and ⌥⇧↑Shift+Alt+↑ 15 minutes shorter.
Each change is one step that ⌘ZCtrl+Z undoes. For a repeating task, a new time applies from that day on.
Open, tick, clear or delete a block
Section titled “Open, tick, clear or delete a block”- Click or double-click a block to open its task in the side panel.
- Click its check to tick the task.
- Right-click it, or choose ⋯ at its top right, for its options:
- Open opens the task in the side panel.
- Clear time takes it off the timeline. The task stays in its list.
- Delete deletes the task from the board too, with Undo in the message. ⌫Backspace on a block you reached with TabTab does the same.
- A repeating task shown for that day has Skip this day in place of Delete. See Repeating tasks.
Take a task from the timeline onto the board
Section titled “Take a task from the timeline onto the board”Drag a block past the side of the timeline onto the board. The task moves there as if you had dragged its row: into a list where you let go, or onto the open board as a task card. Hold Option (Alt on Windows) as you let go to keep it in its list as well.
The task keeps its time, so its block stays on the timeline. A repeating task shown for that day stays on the timeline.
