Words Bloomingo uses

Bloomingo uses a few words of its own. Here they are in alphabetical order, each with the page that explains it.

  • Add more: the last button in the toolbox. It opens a panel of everything you can add to a board, and the templates.
  • Add to Today: shows what you’ve selected on today’s board as well, with ⇧⌘DCtrl+Shift+D. A task joins today’s My tasks.
  • Also show on: puts the same thing on another day or board too, without copying it. You choose where in a box that finds any day or board.
  • Board: an endless canvas for your tasks, notes and everything else. Days, the braindump and projects are all boards.
  • Board node: a board shown on another board, as a card with a live preview of what’s on it.
  • Braindump: the one board with no date, for thoughts that have no day or place yet.
  • Calendar: the month at the bottom of the sidebar. Click a day to open its board.
  • Clock: a node that times your work, as a timer, a stopwatch or Pomodoro (rounds of focus, with a break offered after each).
  • Command menu: the box ⌘KCtrl+K opens. Type to find any day, board, note, task or file, or to run an action.
  • Day board: the board for one date. Every date has one.
  • Deadline: the date a task is due, apart from the day you plan it for. Once it passes, the task says “Was due Tuesday”.
  • Delete everywhere: takes a thing off every board it’s on and sends it to Trash. It asks first when the thing is on more than one board.
  • Leftovers: tasks left unfinished on days gone by. On a new day they wait in a tray, and nothing moves until you choose.
  • Let go: closes an unfinished task without deleting it. Search still finds it, and you can bring it back.
  • Library: everything you’ve made in Bloomingo, kept on this device.
  • Link: a line from one thing on a board to another. It follows them when they move.
  • Mirror: not a word the app shows. It means one thing on several boards, which the app calls “On 3 boards”.
  • My tasks: the list every day opens with. It holds the tasks you put on that day.
  • Node: any one thing on a board, such as a note, a task, a sticky note or a picture.
  • Node menu: the menu for what you’ve selected. Right-click it, press ⇧F10Shift+F10, or choose More on the bar above it.
  • Note: a title and as much writing as you like. It opens in the side panel, and the Notes page lists every one.
  • On 3 boards: shown on a thing that sits on more than one board. It is one thing, not copies, so a change anywhere shows everywhere.
  • Pen bar: the bar above the toolbox while you draw, with the Pen, the Highlighter, the Eraser, colours and widths.
  • Pin: a shortcut to a day, a board or a note, under Pinned in the sidebar. Choose Pin to sidebar in its options.
  • Project: a board you keep on the Projects page, for something that takes more than a day.
  • Put on a day: puts a task or a board on a day you pick from the month.
  • Remove from this board: takes a thing off this board only. If it’s on no other board, it goes to Trash.
  • Repeat: a task that comes back on its days, on a schedule or some days after it’s done.
  • Section: a named area on a board that keeps the things in it together. Move it, and they move with it.
  • Side panel: the panel on the right where a note, a task, a clock, a picture, a PDF or a board opens, while the board stays in view.
  • Sidebar: the column on the left, with Search, Today, Braindump, your pins, the things you opened recently, Trash, Settings and the month.
  • Sticky note: a coloured square of short words, typed on the board itself.
  • Table: a plain grid of words, in rows and columns.
  • Task: one thing to do. It can sit on a board by itself or in a task list.
  • Task list: tasks to tick off, one under another, with a title.
  • Template: a board with a few things to start from: Weekly review, Project plan or Study session.
  • Thought: a note, a task, a sticky note or another card on the braindump. One you haven’t opened or changed for four weeks fades until you open it again.
  • Tidy: lines up and spaces two or more things you’ve selected, in one step you can undo.
  • Timeline: the hours of the open day beside its board, with each task that has a time.
  • Toolbox: the bar at the bottom of every board, with the tools and the things you can add.
  • Trash: where deleted things wait for 30 days. You can restore them until then.
  • Turn into: changes a note into a task list or a sticky note, or back again, keeping its words.
  • Web link: a card for a web address you paste or drop on a board, with the page’s picture and title.
  • Your day ends at: the setting for when your day ends, from midnight to 6:00 AM. Until then, it’s still the same day.
  • Zoom bar: the controls at the bottom right of a board: zoom out, the zoom level, zoom in and Help.
