Web links on a board

Paste a web address onto a board, or drag one in from your browser, and it becomes a web link card. The card shows the page’s picture, its title and its site, so you can tell links apart at a glance. Open it to read the page in your browser.

  • Paste it. Copy an address in your browser, click the board and press ⌘VCtrl+V. The card lands in the middle of the view, selected.
  • Drag it in. Drag a link or the address from your browser onto the board. The card lands where you let go.

Only an address on its own becomes a card, and it has to start with https:// or http://. Words with an address among them become a note instead, with the address inside it.

  • The page’s picture, cropped to fill the top of the card. A video’s picture, from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok and the like, has a play mark in its middle.
  • The page’s title, on up to two lines.
  • The site, such as “YouTube”.

Until the preview arrives, the card shows a globe in place of the picture, the address as its title, and the site’s address (“youtu.be”) under it. It looks the same while you are offline, or when a site gives no preview.

A web link card for a Wikipedia page that has no picture of its own: a globe in place of the picture, the page's title, and en.wikipedia.org under it.

Bloomingo reads the title and the picture from the site itself, once, and keeps them on your device. If you are offline, the card waits as it is and fills in by itself once you are back online.

Select the card and choose Open in the actions bar above it. Or right-click the card and choose Open. The page opens in your web browser, not inside Bloomingo.

Bloomingo only opens web addresses (https:// and http://) this way. If a page can’t be opened, Bloomingo says “Could not open the link.”

A web address typed in a task, a sticky note, a text or a shape shows as a link: underlined, in blue. A plain click on it still selects the card or types in it, as anywhere else. To open the link, hold ⌘Ctrl and click it. Pointing at a link shows its address and how to open it.

A task card goes further. When its task holds an address, the card shows that page’s picture, title and site under the task’s words. Click it to open the page in your browser.

Links in a note’s text work the same way. Writing in a note explains them.

A web link card is like any other card on a board. You can colour it, put it in a section, link it to other cards, or show it on another board too with Also show on.

  • Search finds a web link by its address.
  • Copy (⌘CCtrl+C) puts its address on the clipboard, to paste into another app.
  • Delete it as you delete anything on a board. A deleted web link waits in the Trash for 30 days, as a picture does. One thing, many places explains Remove from this board and Delete everywhere.
