Getting things back from Trash

What you delete waits in Trash for 30 days, so you can bring it back. Nothing in Trash is gone until you delete it forever, empty Trash, or the 30 days pass.

Trash keeps the things that hold something:

  • boards, with everything on them;
  • pictures, PDFs and web links;
  • notes with a title, words or pictures;
  • tasks and task lists with words;
  • tables and sticky notes with words;
  • clocks that have timed something.

Anything else you delete goes without waiting in Trash: an empty note or sticky, a shape, a text, a drawing, or a clock that never ran. Bloomingo says “Deleted.”, with Undo. ⌘ZCtrl+Z brings it back while Bloomingo stays open. The next time Bloomingo opens, it is deleted for good.

Something that waits in Trash says “Moved to Trash.” instead.

Choose Trash in the sidebar, near the bottom, above Settings. With the sidebar folded to its narrow rail, Trash is there too. You can also press ⌘KCtrl+K and choose Go to Trash, or, on a Mac, choose Go › Trash in the menu bar.

Trash opens beside the sidebar, over the board. Choose Trash again to close it.

Trash open beside the sidebar: a search field, four deleted things each with where it came from and when, with Restore and Delete forever beside each, and the footer with Empty trash.

The list shows the last thing deleted first. Each row shows its kind’s icon, its name, and a line such as “From Launch · Deleted 3 days ago”. A board that lived on no board shows only when it was deleted.

To narrow the list, type in Search Trash at the top. It keeps the things with a word in their name that starts with what you type. When none does, it says “Nothing in Trash matches.”

Choose Restore, the arrow button at the end of its row. Or right-click the row and choose Restore in its menu.

The thing goes back where it was, and a board comes back with everything on it. Trash stays open.

  • The toast says where it went, such as “Restored to Launch.” Choose Open in it to go there.
  • A project that lived on no board says “Restored to Projects.”
  • If the board it was on is in Trash too, the thing comes back in the braindump, where you can see it: “Restored to Braindump.”

Drag a row out of Trash and let go on the open board. The thing lands where you let go, on that board only. Bloomingo says where, such as “Restored to Friday, 9 October.”, with Undo. Trash stays open while you drag.

  • A board lands as a board node, with everything on it. It can’t land on itself or on a board inside it.
  • A day’s My tasks card lands on another board as an ordinary task list.

Let go anywhere else, and nothing happens.

Choose Delete forever, the bin button at the end of a row, or right-click the row and choose it in the menu.

Bloomingo asks first: “Delete “Landing page” forever? This can’t be undone.” Choose Delete forever, or Cancel to keep it. Its files are removed from your device, and they stop counting in your storage.

At the foot of Trash, “Things wait here for 30 days.” sits beside Empty trash, which shows while Trash holds anything.

Choose Empty trash. Bloomingo asks first: “Empty trash? Everything in Trash is deleted for good. This can’t be undone.” Choose Delete forever to empty it, or Cancel.

You don’t have to empty Trash. Anything that has waited 30 days is deleted for good on its own, when Bloomingo opens and as each new day begins.

When Trash holds nothing, it says “Trash is empty.”

Press EscEsc, click anywhere outside it, choose Trash again, or go to another day, board or page.

From the keyboard: TabTab goes from the search field to the rows’ buttons, and ↑↑ and ↓↓ move from row to row.
