What's new in Bloomingo
Bloomingo is in development and not for sale yet. This is what's new in the app, newest first.
Changes are checked on a Mac first. Windows and tablets follow.
October 2026
A new version of Bloomingo, redesigned from the first. Everything below is new or redone.
- Sections: wrap related things in a section, and they move together.
- Give a section a colour and a name you can read even when zoomed out.
- Turn a section into a board of its own in one step.
- Search finds sections, and copy and paste take a section with everything in it.
- Tabs: keep days, boards and notes open side by side, and find them again after a restart.
- Back and Forward retrace each tab's steps, with ⌘[ and ⌘].
- Recent in the sidebar holds the last five places you opened.
- Open a note or a board in a new tab from the side panel.
- Templates to start from: Weekly review, Project plan and Study session.
- Type a caption under any picture.
- Boards work with the keyboard alone, and read in order with a screen reader.
- Search works in languages written without spaces between words.
- On a Mac: a full menu bar, and pinch to zoom on the trackpad.
- A redrawn toolbox, with bars of their own for the drawing tools and shapes.
- Trash opens beside the sidebar, with search. Anything dragged out of it lands on the open board.
- If a change can't be saved, Bloomingo says “Not saved” and keeps trying until it is.
- Saving survives a power cut.
- Work in progress: Bloomingo on iPad and Android tablets, with a layout sized for touch.
- Sticky notes on any board.
- Shapes, including flowchart shapes, joined by links.
- Tables: a plain grid of text on the board.
- Clocks with three modes: timer, stopwatch and Pomodoro.
- Each clock keeps its sessions, so you can see its total and the last few runs.
- Join a clock to a task, and it takes the task's name.
- A highlighter joins the pen and the eraser.
- Resize anything on a board from its corners.
- Pictures, PDFs and boards open in a side panel you can widen to full screen.
- Open a board, a project or a note in a separate window.
- Projects show a small picture of their board.
- Pin notes to the sidebar.
- The week can start on any day.
- Import brings a Bloomingo export back in.
- The braindump: one board with no date, for anything on your mind.
- Leftovers: each new day, yesterday's unfinished tasks wait in a small tray. Keep them, move them or let them go.
- The day's timeline: give a task a time, and it shows on the day's hours beside the board.
- Repeating tasks, and deadlines that read “Was due Thursday”.
- Notes gain a slash menu, a formatting bar, @ links to other things, and pictures.
- One note can be open in several windows at once.
- Search everything with ⌘K, and jump straight to what you found.
- Notes, Projects and Files pages, and a Trash that keeps deleted things for 30 days.
- Settings: the theme, when your day ends, the first day of the week and where unfinished tasks go.
- Export everything at any time: notes as Markdown, files as they are, boards as JSON. A single board also saves as a PNG or a PDF.
- Boards inside boards, and projects: boards you keep in Projects.
- Put one task on a project and on today. Tick it once, and it's done on both.
- Pin boards to the sidebar.
- Draw on any board with the pen, and erase with the eraser.
- The month calendar moves into the sidebar, which folds to a slim rail.
- Every date opens its own board, with a month calendar to move between days.
- A new canvas: pan and zoom smoothly, select, snap things into line, and tidy them up.
- Task lists: type a run of tasks, tick them off, and drag them between lists.
- Notes on the board that open in a side panel beside your day.
- Timers on the board.
- Pictures and PDFs on the board, with a viewer.
- Text, shapes, and links between anything on a board.
